Abstract General William H. Gill, Colorado College president from 1947-1959, was a native Virginian and a 1907 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute. Before entering the army, Gill was a civil engineer. His military career included numerous assignments during WWI and II. As major general, Gill commanded the 89th Infantry Division at Camp Carson.
